Recipe: Americano
Shaun White is the brains behind a number of our cocktails, but today he is sharing the recipe for a classic cocktail to easily recreate at home during COVID-19 lockdown.
Americano Cocktail
A personal favourite of mine. The Americano is the predecessor to the famous Negroni. This came to be in the 1860’s in Italy when American tourists would add a splash of soda water to the Milano-Torino cocktail. The Negroni coming much later.
The Americano is a bitter sweet drink that embodies balance and elegance. Its beauty lies in its simplicity, which is often the case with classic cocktails that stand the test of time. The American is a must try for any Negroni fans out there!
Recipe
- 40ml Campari
- 40ml Sweet vermouth (Carpano antica formula is recommended)
- 60ml of soda water
- Lemon twist
- Orange slice
Method
Fill a rocks glass with ice cubes. Pour Campari and sweet vermouth over the ice and stir until well chilled. Top with soda water. Garnish with a lemon twist and a slice of orange.
Enjoy!
